For OC'ing, there's an opinion that tuning up a 4790K to 47 Ghz doesn't offer much of a performance improvement But it's a great processor As you say, the default turbo speed is one factor, but you can't just measure performance in Mhz Finfet technology and other improvements in processor design also add something in performance I have the 4ghz Intel core i7 4790k and I would like to try to overclock it to 5 My cooler is the cooler master hyper 212 evo Is this doable, and how would you recommend doing it?You also have 2 more physical cores, a much stronger memory controller, almost double the PCIe lanes, a lot more cache to run, much tougher to overclock overall The 4790K turbos to 44 on the stock cooler You have a bigger OC (800MHz over boost vs 600MHz) than OP

4790k overclock 5ghz
4790k overclock 5ghz-The cpu is not a great overclocker, 24/7 clocks for 4790k are 4,6 GHz at 1,27 volts The cpu is delidded, Liquid Ultra between core and IHS, air cooled with Scythe Mugen 4 Memory @ 2400 MHz as well I wonder what affects the IBT speed most, because yours seem a lot slower than mine Now, at Computex 14, a new team of overclocking enthusiasts have proven that the Devil's Canyon core has legs with a 55GHz base overclock with air/water cooling, and a 64GHz overclock using LN2
As for OC'ing this chip, it's a pain in the ass If I leave it on stock settings, it's golden (4750 turbo) I bought another board for it, (Gigabyte 990FXGaming) but haven't installed it yet OC it and it will crash But I have my iK running at 47GHz without issues (up from 35GHz)Quick reference guide including specifications, features, pricing, compatibility, design documentation, ordering codes, spec codes and moreThe poster boy of the two new processors is the iK, a fourcore, eight thread monster with a 4GHz base clock on all four cores – the first Intel CPU to do so – and has a Turbo of speed of 44GHz That's a hefty chunk faster than its 35GHz Core iK predecessor, which only reached a Turbo speed of 39GHz, as standard
Re I7 4790k OC @ 4,5 GHz / upgrade I9 9900K ?A Spanish enthusiast has managed to overclock his Intel Core iK "Devil's Canyon" microprocessor from 40GHz to 60GHz with all cores and 65 GPU EVGA FTW 80Ti OC So, 4790K is still a fine CPU but juuuust starting to get long in the tooth Want to eke more out of it I'm on an Asus Z97A UEFI BIOS and I've had misfiring results with overclocking I can get 45GHz but only by ramping the voltage up to around 1450 and even then it's not overly stable
The 4790K features an improved thermal interface which enables it to dissipate heat more efficiently than the 4770K Comparing the 4770K and 4790K shows that stock performance has improved by 13% which is consistent with the base clock jump from 35 GHz to 40 GHz OC performance remains unchanged We tested the Core iK with the same V3 Voltair CPU cooler we recently reviewed on the Core iK When we set the Core iK to the same 35GHz base/39GHz Turbo clock speeds as the My i7 4790K does 48 Ghz with 1265 vcore My LEPA aquachanger 240 keeps my temperatures between 69 and 77 (core temperatures 69) I've read of many people needing 135 or higher vcore to hit 48 though (Which is quite a bit higher than safe) I think my chip is definitely on the high end of the spectrum
Overclocking i7 4790k from 4Ghz to 44Ghz = massive temp increase I didn't overclock anything by myself on my Gigabyte Z97 UD5H, I just left everything on auto However leaving it like this Intel does its Turbo boost thing to go from 4 Ghz to 44 (factory default OC), and temps jump from 5560 to 7080 degrees Celsius, for 400 Mhz alone(This is my 1st time OCing) I have an msi z97 motherboard if your wondering about the BIOS Expreview have a comparison of 8700K, 7700K and 7800X, all running at the same 45 GHz frequency I mean if you wanted to know if there's any IPC gain, this is the best way to see it Intel Core iK gaming performance Intel Core iK productivity benchmark
I actually have a 4770k right now, but it's a bad clocker so hoping the 4790K will make me excited to OC again! For example, my i7 5960X i overclocked to 45ghz at 13v vcore (have since been able to reduce to 128v if i go 195v input voltage, but haswelle is a tad different so consult a 4790K guide about input voltage) for quite some time and its fine Hey guys, been a very long time since I had some new gear to play with 4790K is on preorder, hoping to get it soon!
I actually have a 4770k right now, but it's a bad clocker so hoping the 4790K will make me excited to OC again!Folks, the iK is the real deal It lives up to the years of hype and positive comments Sure, the technology is a few years old, but from what I've read about newer CPUs from both AMD and Intel, I believe it when other PC enthusiasts claim the iK can hold its own against themI7 4790K Overclocking results adviceSo I just spent about 23 hrs trying to overclock my CPU and I think is the best I'm gonna getAt 1235VFrom 400 to 46ghz10 mins Prime95 testing at max load peaked at 80C for my 2nd core, the others peaked at 73, 77 and 77
When we reviewed the Intel Core i7 4790K processor (Devils Canyon) the Haswell based processor refused to overclock over 4800 MHz So why not purchase a binned Silicon Lottery processor that is Hey guys, been a very long time since I had some new gear to play with 4790K is on preorder, hoping to get it soon! 1,508 You might get a few hundred MHz more by removing the IHS if your cooler can be rigged for directcontact operation without an IHS, but it is definitely not a "safe" procedure 46GHz seems to be a common achievement with a 4790K and good cooling solution, without removing the IHS #5
Some viewers suggested that I do a versus with my 4790k overclocked from 45Ghz to 5Ghz using medium preset so that any differences should be mainly from the Not necessarily My 4770K only overclocked to 43GHz, it didn't matter how much voltage I threw at it, so it didn't even hit the stock boost speed of 4790K (44GHz) Whereas my 4790K was quite a bit better of an overclocker Could hit 5GHz at around 135V, but and was stable at 49GHz at below 125V (122V)But we really need a thread on the lovely XS that I've been a member on for over a decade now Seems like just yesterday I signed up!
I Have a I7 4790K OC to 45 ghz on 4 cores hyperthreading off and i have a steady 60 degrees on all four cores even under load in testing with a stress test, Get a H105 liquid cooler u will get the best overclock results with that not just air u will have problems
 Today I'm simply sharing the settings and running a quick benchmark of my i7 4790k which was brought up to 5Ghz on water, while delidded The motherboard whi The 4790K was stable enough at 47GHz to run some benchmarks, but I'd say 46GHz is the more reasonable overclocking limit for daily use, unless you have a much beefier cooler than this one

Hey there, So I finalized my PC upgrade and with the new cooler I thought I might try a bit of overclocking (ik) I used the standard 4,5 GHz settings from the ASRock Z97 BIOS and when running FSXSE with some premium AddOns > Aerosoft A3, FTX Global, ASN, EZdok, 50% Ultimate Traffic 2 settings (I'm using 50% UT2 just for testing since I switched to Overclocking takes the Core iK up an extra W, on average It will be nice to start seeing stock clocked 4 GHz to 45 GHz Intel CPUs to better keep up with the AMD overclocking that Cherrypicked 2600K's were hitting over 5GHz with AIO coolers three and a half years ago, and 7% IPC from Ivy, plus 10% IPC from haswell means that the 4790K has an 18% advantage using your numbers
Re iK not bottlenecking 3080 Monday, 152 AM ( permalink ) kyleqianlima I have an OCed iK at 47ghz Playing red dead redemption 2 at 4K on a 60 fps monitor I turned up some settings so my gpu is not capped by the monitor Picture shows gpu utilization 99% while all cpu cores are in the 5060% rangeIntel Core iK overclocked to 55GHz on air, to 63GHz with LN2 While the Core iK central processing units (CPUs) should offer impressive performance even in In our tests, we locked all four cores at the same frequency — at 44GHz, our Core iK is technically overclocked by 47% (at least, compared to
Intel is shipping a new Core i7 chip for gamers that runs at 44GHz and can be overclocked to 5GHz The Core iK is a quadcore chip based on the Haswell microarchitecture #8 I bought a Gigabyte GAZ97X Gaming 7 board to go with my new 4790k The "Optimized Default" automatically OC'd the chip to 44 GHz, without TurboBoost I observed the VID, set the VID to 119v Now I run the thing atBut we really need a thread on the lovely XS that I've been a member on for over a decade now Seems like just yesterday I signed up!
Overclocking & WrapUp After months of hype over Devil's Canyon, it seemed clear to us that the Core iK was meant to be an overclocking beast for enthusiasts At Computex, Intel president Re ik overclocking with MSI z97s SLI Krait edition CPU's only really consume most power when they are processing data and full tilt 100% per core When idle they go into a lesser power consumption state even if overclocked Intel CPUs have Speed Stepping which when the CPU is idle unless Stepping is disabled somewheres it will generallyOverclocking Core iK And TIM Performance Page 1 Intel Core iK Core iK runs all four cores at 35 GHz and can get up to 39 GHz
